Tips for Storing Opened Pantry Food Properly

For any meal, crock pot or otherwise, to turn out great, you need to start out with the freshest and tastiest ingredients. Storing your food properly is an important step in creating wonderful meals for your family.

Pantry Food Storage Tips

Check the sell by date or use by dates on pantry foods. Throw away food that is past those dates. Make sure that opened food is closed tightly and in a cool, dry place.

  • Baking Powder-18 months
  • Baking Soda-   18 months
  • Cornmeal-        12 months
  • Cornstarch-      18 months
  • Honey-             12 months
  • Nuts-       3-6 months
  • Canola or Corn Oil -  6 months
  • Olive Oil- 4 months
  • Brown Rice-     1 month
  • White Rice-      2 years
  • Shortening-      8 months
  • Brown Sugar-   4 months
  • Granulated Sugar-    2 years
  • Worcestershire -      1 year
  • Bouillion Cubes-      1 year
