Cantonese Pork Crock Pot Recipe
1-1/2 lb pork steak ½" thick cut into strips
2 tbl oil
1 onion large, sliced
1 green pepper small cut into strips
1 4 oz mushroom, drained
1 8 oz tomato sauce can
3 Tbl brown sugar
1-1/2 Tbl vinegar
1-1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
Brown pork in oil in skillet. Drain on double paper towel. Place pork strips and all remaining ingredients. Into the crock pot. Cover and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours (high 4 hr) Serve over hot rice.
Crock Pot Cooking Tip
If your crock pot recipe calls for meat, browning first will help reduce the fat content and enhance the flavor and texture of slowcooked recipes. However, you really don't need to brown your meat before adding to the crock pot. Also, because of the condensation in a slow cooker, reduce the liquid if you are making a sauce or gravy from it.
